So this orchid. I can’t stop thinking about it. And with good reason too it seems.
This orchid is one of my family heirlooms. Possibly one of my only family heirlooms. It’s a living, breathing heirloom, which I think makes it so special.
This heirloom can’t be put in a box and forgotten about for a generation. We have to love and look after it everyday.
But the best thing about this heirloom is that we all get to have it. All my aunts and uncles have a clipping of the original plant. No fighting over who gets it and no jealousy.
One day I’ll have my own clipping of this plant, and if I stay in New Zealand and raise a family here my children will have a clipping of this plant.
How special is that?
